This song is a lovingly sung and delicately performed dream.
Caught in this pool held in your arms
Caught like a fool without a line
We’re in a natural spread
With this gentle sting between us
News from the dubstep side of the music industry! California DJ Bassnectar and Chicago MC Lupe Fiasco teamed up for a new lead single “Vava Voom”, Bassnectar’s eighth studio album. The album, due out on April 10th, is released under his own Amorphous Music. The track is, as you can predict with Lupe Fiasco, hip-hop and dubstep. Bassnectar describes the track “where life shifts into time-warp speed, but you find yourself in an almost slow-motion trance.”

If this still doesn’t get you dancing, then I guarantee these two will.
Other Bassnectar favorites:
NIIA covers the 2011 favorite, Jai Paul’s BTSTU. The song is a personal favorite and I have to admit that the name NIIA is unfamiliar to my ears. But when I’ve read that she has worked with Wyclef and this very interesting take on the only released track from Jai Paul will render any listener enchanted. The song was treated with a sullen baseline and toned down arrangement. Listen and download below.

UK producer, Fort Romeau, has a new track from his recently released LP, “Kingdoms”. SW9 is an amazing track and fits great with the rest of the tracks in the LP. It effortlessly merges the deep house sound and the steady pulsating beat complements it.
Buy his album at Amazon.

Since his 2010 debut of his bedraggled hit song “Away Frm U”, Brad Oberhofer has worked with Glassnote and created sinfully good music. A new release is “Heart” from his new LP Time Capsules II to be released this March 27, which features fantastically arranged orchestral notes and keys. Listen and download the track below.

William Fitzsimmons is more than perfectly good face under a mass of an unattractive beard. He is the man behind the wonderful album Gold In The Shadow, released last year. There are many reviews I’ve read that think this isn’t his strongest album. And although I agree on Gold in the Shadow not being the best, I won’t deprive the songs that did stand out. Still staying true to his mellow folk and soothing indie style, but with more captivating lyrics like the ones from his passionate yet gentle song “Beautiful Girl,” and the dreamy “Psychasthenia”.

Oliver Tank‘s new song from his album Dreams, under the Australian label Yes Please, is as he mentioned, “probably the best music I’ve ever made”. “Help You Breathe” features dreamy synths behind appropriate lyrics. Who would have trouble breathing with this gem of a song? It starts with a slow beat and you wouldn’t think of the hiphop beat because of the gentle voice that accompanies the wonderful track. This song is a keeper.

Four years after her fantastic debut blew my mind, Santigold is finally back!
Although she might haven’t been as productive with collaborating with the artists she supposed to in her downtime, her return is definitely a most awaited event. After working with legends Devo, Christina Aguilera and appeared on albums by Spank Rock, NASA and the Beastie Boys. Now she has changed her name from Santogold to Santigold, owing to her previous name’s “similarity to the science fiction film Santo Gold’s Blood Circus”.
It was only within the last month that she made her announcement of her return official with her forthcoming Master of My Make-Believe album. Big Mouth, which was one of the early tracks from her new album was compared to being severely similar to M.I.A.’s old style. This new track Disparate Youth is said the album’s first “proper” single and it’s an absolute favorite. Chill without being too dull and has the right beat with a new wave vibe and her trademark emotionless singing.
Master of My Make-Believe is out via Atlantic on 1 May. You can see the video below.

This song is wild! Sense of high that’s hard to come by. If you want to start your day not thinking of being broke, the crap you have to deal with your job, everything you hate about your life, then THIS IS YOUR SONG. Even with the autotune bit, it’s still ACE.
I don’t like walking around this old and empty house.
So hold my hand, I’ll walk with you my dear
The stairs creak as I sleep,
it’s keeping me awake
It’s the house telling you to close your eyes
If you’re a guy who wants to woo a girl with discriminating music taste – this is the song for you.
Seriously. Any girl would want to know if someone feels this way for them (or however the song makes them feel). In my case, it’s all warm and fuzzy right here.
Happy Valentine’s Day again. This is part 2 of my Valentine’s day mixes. Where my1st mix was all about the sweetness of finding love, this one is about getting over a failed romance, one way or another.
I was about to add Soko’s I’ll Kill Her and Robyn’s Cry When You Get Older but I opted to cancel them. Just in case you might think I’m not taking heartbreak seriously.
If you’ve got anything to say about this mix, tell me! I’d love to hear from you!
Happy Valentine’s day everyone!
I guess this post is to commemorate my return to music blogging eh? As promised, this is my V-day Playlist for 2012. It took me the whole day to sort the songs–both old and new. And no, this won’t be all folk or all pop songs. It’s a menagerie of songs with different tunes but all pertaining to one emotion–and that is of being in love.
I’m getting a bit rusty at music curating (or maybe I didn’t really have the talent for it?) But nonetheless, you’ll find something for yourself in this list. I’m posting 2 more Valentine’s mixes later (if my internet connection improves). I have yet to hook up to a direct download link, so in the meantime, just click the songs on a new tab and download them!
Reactions to this mix? Yay or nay? Tell me what you think about it!
